With special guests Bumpy and DJ JNETT

Sidney Myer Music Bowl

Living legend Herbie Hancock headlines an epic evening at the Bowl to kick off the 2024 Melbourne International Jazz Festival, joined on the line-up by the incomparable Marcus Miller and local soul superstar, Bumpy.

With an illustrious career spanning seven decades and a staggering 14 GRAMMY awards, there are few artists who have had more influence on modern music than Herbie Hancock.

The creative force behind hundreds of classics such as Cantaloupe Island, Chameleon and Rockit, Hancock’s appeal transcends genre while maintaining an unmistakable style. Lauded by The Washington Post as “today’s greatest living artist”, the opportunity to see Herbie Hancock perform live is a privilege that should never be missed.

Hancock will be joined on stage by an extraordinary list of jazz greats, including Terence Blanchard (trumpet), Lionel Loueke (guitar/vocals), James Genus (bass), and Jaylen Petinaud (drums).

Consistently recognised as one of the greatest electric bassists of all time, Marcus Miller has been at the top of his game for over 30 years. Renowned for his legendary technique and feel, Miller has been the first-choice player for artists so great they need only go by one name: Miles. Dizzy. Aretha. Chaka. Elton. Herbie. Prepare to be blown away by Miller in his long-awaited Australian debut.

One of the country’s most vibrant and captivating soul singers, Bumpy completes this incredible line-up.
