For one huge day of free music, MIJF returns to Spotswood hotspot Grazeland. Enjoy a vibrant mix of local jazz, soul, funk and swing as you explore the West’s much-loved playground for foodies.
A unique outdoor dining experience sure to tantalise your senses, Grazeland features the best of Melbourne’s food scene, with over 50 food and beverage vendors offering everything from Asian street food to European sweet treats—accompanied by swinging Australian jazz.

Rhea John

Rhea John is an emerging Melbourne-based jazz/contemporary vocalist who leaves a remarkable impression on audiences with her sublime musical interpretations, nuanced vocal expressions and command of the jazz style. Making her MIJF debut in a unique duo setting, she will showcase her vocal artistry, versatility and improvisational capabilities through her repertoire of timeless jazz standards and contemporary improvised music.
Matt Hoyne Trio
4:00pm – 6:00pm
Matt Hoyne is an in-demand Naarm (Melbourne) based jazz guitarist and composer who, for over a decade, has developed a unique voice through a consistent output of live performance and recording. His trio is an outlet for exploring melody, with a repertoire consisting of originals and covers by the likes of Joni Mitchell, Rufus Wainwright and Paul Simon. An ambling take on the jazz guitar trio, this performance features the immeasurable talents of Sam Anning on bass and Kyrie Anderson on drums.
Melbourne Tramways Big Band
7:00pm – 9:00pm
The Melbourne Tramways Big Band (MTBB) perform a vast selection of styles ranging from swing, jazz rock, blues, Latin, and Afro jazz. With a captivating vitality and energy achieved through the commitment and talent of its membership, the MTBB is a splendid representation of big band jazz in a wide variety of exciting styles.
