Roundtable Discussion: Pathfinding – Leadership Programs in Improvised Music

How do emerging improvising musicians build sustainable careers in Australia’s unique arts and culture sector? What opportunities are available to them and what skills to they need to succeed? Join recipients of The Australian Art Orchestra’s ‘Pathfinders’ and Melbourne International Jazz Festival’s ‘Take Note’ program for a conversation on leadership and professional pathways in improvised music.

Martel Ollerenshaw (Director of Arts & Parts Ltd.) will facilitate a discussion with Claire Cross (Associate Producer – Take Note), Aviva Endean (AAO Pathfinder – 2018/2019), Reuben Lewis (AAO Pathfinder – 2019/2020), Peter Knight (Artistic Director – Australian Art Orchestra) and Hadley Agrez (CEO – Melbourne International Jazz Festival) on the opportunities available for emerging artists in this field as well as open the floor to a broader dialogue on the aspirations and potential for this sector beyond 2020.
