James Sherlock Quartet featuring Carl Mackey

Friday 2 June
at 9:00pm

Lido Jazz Room

Price

Full $35 / $30 CONC.

The guitar/bass/drums trio has been the backbone to James Sherlock's performance output for over 20 years, and for the past two years James has been inviting guests to augment the trio. This special Melbourne International Jazz Festival performance will feature one of the trio's regular guests, outstanding saxophonist, Carl Mackey.

James and Carl have been playing together since Carl arrived in Melbourne in 2016; together they are developing a language and repertoire that puts their own stamp on the Saxophone/Guitar quartet format.

"This could be exhibit A in the case that some of the world's most exciting jazz is being made in Australia.”

John Shand - Sydney Morning Herald (“Watermark” review)

“Sherlock is a wonderful guitarist, and a craftsman of songs possessing beauty and depth. “Solo” should make a few Top 10s of the year and help propel Sherlock onto the bigger stage he surely deserves. Definitely a name to watch out for.”

Ian Patterson, All About Jazz.
