"... a stage presence only matched by the clarity of her voice.." James Morrison, Australia

"... truly one of the best swing-style vocalists on the current scene.." Will Friedwald, USA

Known for her clear tone, swinging, straight ahead style and natural musicality, Hetty Kate is often lauded by musicians and audiences for what she ‘doesn’t do’ as a jazz singer. Her approach keeps true to the melody and lyric; and uses improvisation and invention in a way which never detracts from the story of the song. A relaxed and warm performer, Hetty has graced stages from New York to Tokyo, released nine albums and among many other career highlights, has performed internationally as part of James Morrison's acclaimed symphonic concert 'The A to Z of Jazz'  including two sell out shows at the Sydney Opera House.

Recently relocating to Paris, Hetty is thrilled to be visiting Melbourne to sing at Uptown for the MIJF. This will be an evening of sophisticated and beautiful songs from Hetty's albums, and new favourites from The Great American Songbook.

Doors open 30 minutes prior to start time.
