Iconoclastic composer, arranger and pianist Carla Bley takes to the stage with the Monash Art Ensemble – a student and staff collaborative project of Monash University’s Sir Zelman Cowen School of Music and the Australian Art Orchestra.

Together they recreate music from Bley’s seminal 2008 live album Appearing Nightly, which takes the big band sound and jazz standards of the swing era and deftly infuses them with Bley’s trademark inventiveness, wit and high spirits.
