Just like that, the Melbourne International Jazz Festival is over for another year. From multimedia dreamscapes to hard-grooving soul and icons who've graced our stages for over half a century, this Festival has epitomised the evolution of jazz.
Our biggest Festival ever, this year saw overall attendance increase to 44,000 people participating in 129 free and ticketed events, and the creation of a new box office revenue record - demonstrating Melbourne's continuing passion for world-class music experiences.
A huge thank you to the extraordinary artists, partners, volunteers and staff, without whom this Festival would not be possible.
We would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate our Chairman John Stanhope for being named a Member of the Order of Australia on Monday; testament to his significant service across industries and, of course, to jazz.
